On March 24th 2012, Liberty Wildlife/ Two Gals Promotions will be raffling off a Brand New only 10 miles on it 2010 Harley-Davidson Soft-tail Deluxe. Tickets are 100 bucks each and we are only selling 500 of them. The raffle will be drawn at Chester’s Harley-Davidson Backstage Biker Bash party.

You do not have to be present to WIN!!!

On March 24th it will be my 5th Anniversary ride and Final year hosting the Born 2B Wild Ride for Liberty Wildlife. I have been with Liberty Wildlife for 15 years and watched this amazing foundation save over 67,000 animals since 1981. There passion is infectious, there determination is awarded and there hearts are huge! This foundation helped save my life in more ways than one. I came to liberty at a point and time in my life, I needed some major healing, and that is just what Liberty Wildlife gave me Healing and Hope. The animals thou wild didn’t care about my past, my tattoos, my weight, nothing. They just wanted to be fed and healed. So as I rescued them, they rescued me right back, and I have been here ever since. The amazing creatures I deal with on a daily basis keep me grounded and make me see what’s really important and teach me a few things every day.

Liberty Wildlife does thousands of rescues a year, thousands of educational outreach programs for ALL ages , they do Research and Conservation programs that help save habitat and teach Power companies how to be environmentally friendly. We only have one planet and it must be respected and Liberty Wildlife is an embodiment of that. At Liberty Wildlife we even have a high respect for the ones that have passed on, When we lose an animal we have a program that allows us to save certain carcass and feathers and we are able to send them to Native American Tribes Nationwide for their spiritual and ritual masterpieces, church ceremonies, events and so forth, it is truly an amazing honor to be a part of on behalf of the tribes and the spirit of the animals, and its just the right thing to do. On May 5th 2012 , I will be resigning from my position as Daily Care Coordinator at Liberty Wildlife and as much as it saddens me it is a move I am both scared and excited to take. I will still volunteer some of my time, as Liberty Wildlife is part of my soul and who I am as a living being. When we as Bikers ride and experience close up and personal one on one with the road, we come across so much nature and wildlife in our travels that I am forever Thankful that a place like Liberty Wildlife exists so that I can look up and see a Eagle soaring thur the Sky, or a Pack of Harris Hawks hunting like Wolves in the daylight keeping the rodent population under control and so much more. So I am asking of my friends, family, and strangers to help me go out with a bang on March 24th 2012, by purchasing a raffle ticket, or attending the Born 2B Wild Ride. As I ride off to my newest of adventures.

This is my story, and I am forever grateful to the staff, volunteers, sponsors and donors I have had the pleasure of meeting, knowing and begging from over these 15 years. I thank you all for enriching my life and making me a better person.

     As the year winds down and 2012 approaches, we would like to take a moment and reflect on 2011.  We must do this by saying thank you to all of the people that have made Two Gals so successful and growing.

Sometimes is can be hard to sum up why you do what you do for a living. Our chosen profession can define a large part of our lives, for better or worse that's for sure! I know that every member of the Two Gals Events team has held other jobs before this and well, for one reason or another they have all found their way to becoming a part of something special.

As it comes to the end of the year, I am feeling kind of sentimental...like you do... and I just wanted to put out there a big THANK YOU to all of our team! You are amazing people who add your spirit, passion and creativity to everything you do! None of the events would happen without all of you!

We (The Two Gals Team) would also like to thank our personal support "team" in our lives. Those of you who put up with our messes that we leave in our wake as we run out the door on our way to things or those few days after a big shin-dig! Thank you for always helping in the million little things that you do! Thank you for dressing up and being there for the wine tastings, the jazz galas, the golf tournaments, the crazy parties at the Dirty Dogg and the for all of the events in the future! This Wednesday evening from 5:30 - 8:30 please join us for the "Hopping, Happing, Happy Hour" event at the Bonfire Grill and Bar in Old Town Scottsdale. This evening is in support of the Illinois Jacquet Foundation for musical education.

Born on October 31, 1922, in Broussard, Louisiana, Jean Baptiste Illinois Jacquet, at the age of 19 on the very first recording of his career, spawned an entirely new style and sound for the tenor saxophone. His classic solo on “Flying Home” recorded with the Lionel Hampton Band at Decca Records in New York City, on May 26, 1942, catapulted Jacquet to international fame and the solo became more famous than the song itself. All saxophonists learned to play Jacquet’s solo, every band recorded it, and people all over the world were humming this most famous solo in jazz history.

Two years later, on July 2, 1944, while improvising with Nat King Cole on piano and Les Paul on guitar for a benefit concert at the Philharmonic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, Jacquet began to play a range of notes not regularly heard on the tenor saxophone. With an innovational use of harmonics in a creative impulse, Jacquet expanded the upper register of the tenor saxophone by two and a half octaves.

     The Juilliard School of Music awarded Illinois Jacquet an Honorary Doctorate of Music degree on May 21, 2004. As he told President Polisi, “This is the happiest day of my life.” The Illinois Jacquet Scholarship in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School has been established to honor his memory. The foundation is now looking to expand this scholarship program, and they need your support in this endeavor.

Casting for Recovery was founded on the principles that the natural world is a healing force and that cancer survivors deserve one weekend — free of charge and free of the stresses from medical treatment, home, or workplace — to experience something new and challenging while enjoying beautiful surroundings within an intimate, safe, and nurturing structure.

Casting for Recovery provides an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by the disease to gather in a natural setting and learn the sport of fly fishing. Just as importantly, the retreats offer an opportunity to meet new friends, network, exchange information, and have fun.

The weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services, and the trained facilitators that staff each retreat, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional (e.g. physical therapist, nurse), as well as fly-fishing instructors and river helpers.

   I am forever reminded of how lucky I am to have the most amazing friends! Some days it's the small stuff... laughter over coffee, some shared joke on facebook, someone to commiserate with at the end of a long day. Some days it's the bigger things and those days make you truly thankful for the network of support you have build up over the years.  The hard times that let you know without a doubt that you will have these people by your side. Most days you just deal with the daily grind sprinkled with laughter and love with from family and friends. Every once in a great while you go through something hard, a personal trial that leaves you leaning on these people. I have lost people I love to old age or illness, had my heart broken, lost myself to find myself again, and I guess dealt with the kind of ordinary crap everybody has in their lives that shakes them up a bit.      But every once in a while, you get to just celebrate with your friend! A birthday, an anniversary, a wedding, job promotion, new baby, new home...Tonight is one of those nights! My wonderful friend Kari, the owner of Studio Vino in Tempe is celebrating her businesses 3rd anniversary! I love when a locally owned small business is a success and in this case doubly so! The wine is yummy, the shop is a great place to hang out and Kari is a delightful person to get to know! She always has a warm smile for everyone and the perfect kind of person to talk to across the bar over a glass of vino.

Horses Help, Happy Hour, Networking and..well..a Margarita or two!

Tonight is going to be one of those events that only reinforces why I love to do what I do. Happy hour at Dos Gringos in Old Town Scottsdale with our Networking for Change group in support of Horses Help. I've got a fun outfit picked out which includes the largest sombrero you could find down in Rocky Point! It Happy Hour, so there will be yummy margarita's. Out NFC group will get to mingle with friends and the other NFC group in Arizona. Dos Gringos is always a good time. There will be horses there from Horses Help and all in all...the cherry on top will be raising money to help this wonderful charity!

Thinking ahead...

Summer ALWAYS comes early to Phoenix Arizona. We were hitting near 100' about a week ago, had this past weekend for rain and cool temps but I know the triple digits are just around the corner and will be here to stay ...for months. I have lived in Arizona since the summer of 1995 so I know what to expect. The last few years the heat seems to be getting to me more and more and by the end of August I feel downright cranky!
This year however, I'm looking forward to summer. I can't say that there is an exact reason for this...It will still be several long months of 105' plus in the shade. You can't put laundry out on the line to dry in the daytime cause it will bleach out your clothes, and midnight swimming is a must...but this year I'm looking forward to the challenge of working on maybe a few pool parties with the event company. I really want to work with a local company that wants to have some sort of an employee thank you kind of summer pool party shin-dig! How much fun would it be to take over one of the amazing local hotel pools and host one heck of an evening poolside get together? So, I'm putting out into the universe that Two Gals is looking for this kind of June or July event. If you own a company or work for one that is looking for some way to thank employees...get a hold of us and let us plan this for you. Let's bust out the BBQ grill and the pool noodles and plan a good time!

Time Flys...

     A whole week has gone by without me having the time or leftover brain cells to sit down and write at the end of the day on our blog. Networking groups, new client appointments, current client meetings, tons of computer time, trying to secure donations for upcoming Illinois Jacquet Foundation event and oh yeah...finding time to sleep! It's an exciting life but this Friday I just feel tired. Tomorrow will be different. Tomorrow I will wake up thinking about what new contacts to make, how to get done what we need for the Jacquet event. Tomorrow I will be refreshed and ready to go! But as the sun sets here in Phoenix all I really want to do is curl up on the couch and veg. :-) I guess even rock star event planners need to rest sometimes!

Networking, North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce and Networking For Change

     Last night Two Gals Event Planning joined the North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce. A very special Thank You to Dani Frappiea @ Dinners by Dani for sponsoring us. I went to their monthly orientation and was impressed by the group as a whole. I felt very welcome! The members that I met seem to be very committed and enthusiastic about what they are doing. Helping the community, working on charity projects and getting to know fellow members seems to be at least as important as promoting their own businesses. They have a list of committees to join and I think Two Gals will be a good fit with this chamber.

     Trying to grow a small business in this recovering economy is a delicate thing. We are excited to grow, but money spent in the process must be spent wisely. We have looked at a few other groups, and it comes down to things like, "are the people in this group concerned about the community they live and work in?" and, "are the members approachable, friendly and willing to think out of the box?". Not every networking group is going to be a good fit for you or your small business. My suggestion is to go to a few events for free and really check out the group before you join. Make sure that the group is really going to work with you and for you before you whip out your check book.

     Two Gals has also recently become a member of Network For Change. This group is honestly FANTASTIC! Not only is it a networking group but instead of annual dues, you work on charity events or collect items for monthly charity wish lists. Last month we worked on collecting computer parts for "Computers for Kids". The Rotary Club (Scottsdale Chapter I believe) and Scottsdale Community College get together and collect unwanted computer items, fit them up, and get the working computer systems to kids that need them. Awesome, right?! What we did was get on facebook and put a request out to our network. It was pretty easy to fill up a carload of unwanted monitors, scanners, a hard drive and various bits and cords. I really love the concept of us as a group giving back collectively! The month of April we are working on behalf of "Horses Help". We are planning a shindig at Dos Gringos in Old Town. More information on that to follow.

     So, growing is part of the plan for Two Gals Event Planning 2011. We are trying to do it smart. Time and Money are very valuable and we need to spend both wisely. I'm so excited to see where this year takes us!

     So, I have been working in the world of event planning for a year now. It's so much more than planning parties and I am very proud of the work that we do and the lives we can touch. I mean, yes we plan parties but the charity work is what means the most to me. Working with groups like Ear Candy, The Illinois Jacquet Foundation, Casting for Recovery, Network For Change, Liberty Wildlife, Susan G. Komen...well it makes the hours of planning and the craziness of event days more than worth it!
     Most charity groups are formed because of an overwhelming need. People have a disease, schools or community projects are underfunded, animals are harmed, the environment is suffering... There is almost always a sad side to why the charity group exists. Even though the reason behind creating a charity can be a harsh reality, I have learned that so many wonderful people bring their energy and pour their heart into the charity because they KNOW that they can make a difference. They are vibrant people who are involved because it is in their heart to do so! I've met so many amazing people over this last year.
     And, so what does Two Gals Event Planning bring to all of this? Fun, exciting, interesting and joyous events that raise much needed funds for these charity groups. We involve the attendees in the spirit of the charity and they leave with so much more than memories of a fun time. They leave with knowing more about these amazing charities and with the knowledge that they are helping make the world a better place.
      This past Sunday we had a motorcycle ride in support of Liberty Wildlife. The ride ended at Cody's Restaurant in Cave Creek, Arizona. Yes, it was a beautiful day. Yes, everybody had a good time. Yes, money was raised for a great cause. What will people remember the most? At the tail end of the event, two red tail hawks were released from the upper deck of Cody's and back into the wild. All of those wonderful people that were brought together for the ride got to take home a first hand experience of what amazing work Liberty Wildlife does. They all saw that two native birds that had been injured were now healthy again and back out soring in the Arizona sky's. It was a thrill for all, me included. So, thank you to all of the employees and volunteers at Liberty Wildlife for the amazing work you do every day. Thank you to Cody's, The Dirty Dog Saloon, Logan's Valley Motorcycles, The American Legion in Fountain Hills, Paul Yaffe, APS and Law Tiger's for your sponsorship and support. Thank you to all of the wonderful folks that came out to ride!

Network For Change

Two Gals Event Planning is a proud member of Network For Change. Business people coming together to support each other but more than that to help make the community a better place. This month we were working to collect computer parts for a program called computers for kids. The Scottsdale Community College takes these parts, fixes them all up and makes computer systems for kids here in the Phoenix Valley. What a great way to impact a child's life! Next months project for NFC has to do with Horses Help!http://www.horseshelp.org/ More information on that to follow.

Par It In Pink Charity Womens Only Champagne Brunch Golf Tournament

One more week till the Par It In Pink Charity Women's Golf Tournament. Yesterday I stopped the Phoenix office for Susan G. Komen for the Cure and they stocked us up with some great t-shirts and other swag for the tournament goody bags. We've got to put together the baskets for the raffle, stuff the goody bags and take care of all of the little last minute things. Today was 50% off everything at the Goodwill Store, so I was able to pick up some pretty baskets at a FANTASTIC price and the money that was spent went to another good cause. We still have donations coming in for the raffle and as always I am delighted with the generosity of so many businesses in Arizona! I'm putting together a list of companies that I recommend because of working with them on these charity events.

Remember when you are generous with your time, gifts, talents and love it will always come back to you ten fold!
